This 18th C. French 'animal mort' oil painting on canvas is in a period Louis XV gilt frame, most likely original to the painting. Above the signature on the lower portion of the painting, there is an inscription indicating this was a gift from the artist to a good friend. The first name is indecipherable, but the second name is Clame. Condition: Minor portions of gilt ornamentation on frame missing consistent with age; painting is in very good condition.
