When oak furniture was considered "poor peoples furniture", walnut, rosewood, and mahogany pieces were highly prized by the wealthy and influential. Renaissance Revival furniture c.1855-1880, is some of the most beautiful furniture ever hand made in our country. Beautiful sewing stands were more in the category of parlor pieces where ladies occupied themselves with "fancy work". ~From a contact in the Houston area we obtained this gorgeous Classic Renaissance Revival Sewing Stand/Table. The warmth of walnut covers this entire piece. Burl walnut trim highlights the piece. Two drawers are provided for sewing supplies such as thimbles, spools, and other tools. The beautiful lower rolled cylinder is made to hold larger items ...perhaps the very piece that was being decorated with fancy work. This lovely sewing stand/table has been gently restored and is ready to be treasured. This lovely piece can be shipped via Greyhound or UPS. Please inquire about rates to your location.
