Set of 4 Antique English Spool Style Solid 1/4 Sawn Tiger Oak Chairs
This Set of Four English Antique Spool Style Solid Quarter Sawn Tiger Oak Chairs, circa 1910, is quite stunning. Constructed out of beautiful solid quarter sawn tiger oak, the chairs have a beaded decorative top rail, a pierced center back that is straddled by straight-lined vertical and spool style side rails, straight-lined H-spreaders and spool style legs with block cylinder feet. This unique spool style pattern, also referred to as bobbin, is quite unique and was first introduced in the late 17th century. Bobbin turning consisted of a series of small knobs resembling spools, or bobbins, hence the name.
