Set 12 Royal Doulton Shakespeare Plates

This is a complete set of twelve (12) gilded, porcelain Shakespeare's Country dinner plates by Royal Doulton. Each features unique scenes depicting landmarks in and around Stratford which were hand-painted and signd by "J Hughs". This set dates from as early as 1902 based on the red impressed hallmark on rear. While we have seen individual plates from this set offered online, we have never seen a complete set offered anywhere. Additional mark in red is that of the New York city retailer, Gilman Collamore & Co, of 5th Avenue and 30th Street. Titles include: Guys Cliff House; Kenilworth Castle; Holy Trinity Church, Stratford on Avon; Mary Ardens Cottage; Guys Cliff Mill; Shakespeare's Birthplace; Ann Hathaway's Cottage; Aston Cantlow; Charlecote; Warwick Castle; Memorial Theatre, Stratford on Avon; Bidford. Condition of each plate is excellent with no visible signs of wear to the decoration nor to the gilding, and no visible cracks nor chips. This set resides on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York city, and may be seen by appointment.
