Set 10 Royal Doulton Hand-Painted Porcelain Cabinet Plates Depicting British Castles

Unavailable
This set of ten hand-painted chargers by Royal Doulton date from the early twentieth century, and depict ten different castles from throughout Great Britain. Nine plates are signed "R. Brown" and one plate is signed "C. Hart". Sites depicted include: Ardencapel Castle, Ross Castle, Dover Castle, Aberfoyle, Rochester Castle, Rhuddlan Castle, Ludlow Castle, Tintern Abbey, Cawdor Castle, and Pembroke Castle. Eight plates carry the mark used from 1902 to 1922, and two plates carry the mark used beginning in 1932. Most plates carry the retailer's mark for Ovington's of New York and Chicago. Condition is fabulous. There are no losses or repairs, and no visible wear to the painted decoration or gilding. One plate has a small (1/4" long) scratch and one has a tiny bit of what appears to be house paint along the edge which we will try to remove safely. Stacked the set measures 4" tall. Additional images forwarded upon request. ( dantiques )
