The style of beading shown in this outstanding American Native beaded whimsy photo frame was done as early as the 1850s according to illustrated examples in Phillips, see p 226. The piece is in very good condition with 95% of the beading intact & original. I have replaced 7 tassel loops out of 25, some edge beads and the hanger. The red wool panels are original but the green ones needed replacing. Some re-enforcing to the original brown fabric backing. Should be in a museum! The photo opening will accommodate a photo size up to 6.5" x 4.5". The photo is not included.
