Sellers June Bride Special Antique Oak & Maple Hoosier Style Cabinet
This Sellers June Bride Special Antique Birch & Oak Hoosier Style Cabinet hails from the second largest manufacturer of Hoosier-style cabinets, the G.I. Sellers and Sons Company. Founded in 1888 in Kokomo, Indiana by George Ira Sellers and father and brother Will Sellers of the Kokomo Furniture Manufacturing Company, the company moved to Elwood and purchased the Elwood Furniture Company plant after a 1905 fire destroyed their original Kokomo factory. At its peak of operations G.I. Sellers & Sons Company had more than 4,500 dealers nationwide. Entire trains of 90 or more cars would leave the Sellers factory loaded with kitchen cabinets and tables. The majority of the Hoosier-style cabinet manufacturing companies went out of business after the Depression and World War II, however Sellers plugged along until 1951.

Marketed as "The Best Servant in your House" this utilitarian kitchen cupboard was part of the Sellers June Bride Special. Constructed out of oak and maple, originally the cabinet was painted with white enamel and throughout the years the paint has been removed on everything except the interior bottom cupboard and the interior bottom drawers. The Sellers June Bride Special Antique Oak & Maple Hoosier Style Cabinet has glass knobs, the original porcelain pullout work surface with the original pullout wooden work surface below, measures, 68.25 inches H X 42.00 inches W X 25.50 inches D, and with the pullout porcelain work surface extended measures, 34.50 inches D. The Hoosier-style cabinet is factory stamped on its back side, Enameled, Sellers June Bride Special, and comes apart into three pieces for easy transport.
