Nightingale Antiques was created by me, Karyn Shaudis, in 1978. Little did I know a few antiques bought as the background in a window display would change my life.
A trip to Europe and a container later the idea of mixing antiques and art was all I could think of.
From a gourmet store to an antique store was quite a stretch, but I never looked back. The retailer in me wanted more: dimension, color, texture and the artistry only items created with skill and loving devotion could satisfy. Each piece has the ability to stand on its own as a work of art. Brought together the pieces form an art gallery of vintage and one-of-a-kind new treasures: to be adopted and cherished by clients with the same sense of wonder and delight.
Periods of high interest and concentration are Victorian, Art Nouveau, Arts & Crafts, Art Deco, the 1940's and slightly beyond.
All pieces are of high detail and maximum craftsmanship, in good condition and picked to make you either smile or sigh with joy at their discovery.
I have nurtured and encouraged a generation of young talent dedicated to creating a product that pleases and leaves us wanting more.
