This brush and brown ink drawing on laid paper depicting two cupids, squared for transfer, is unsigned and an exceptional work attributed to Marcantonio Franceschini (1648-1729). Glazed and gilded frame with detailed carved gesso measures 14" by 15.75" by 2". Some losses in the lower left corner. Portion of sheet visible under matte measures 7" by 9". Some stains. From an impressive Bedford NY collection. Provenance upon request.  Born in Bologna, Italy, Marcantonio's style is known as Barochetto, reflecting influence of the French Rococo painters of the period. He completed commissions thrghout Europe and today his works can be found in the Dulwich Picture Gallery in London, the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Meseo Glauco Lombardi in Parma, and the National Art Gallery of Bologna.
