One of the many books from the Estate of Francis P. Fretwell that Dogtreasures.com will be selling. The library is the largest privately owned collection of dog books in the world. Mr. Fretwell was the owner of Monfret Kennels, which bred champion standard poodles. He was former president and governor of the Poodle Club of America, and the Italian Greyhound Club of America. He also served as a delegate to the American Kennel Club for decades. His wonderful collection of books has been carefully maintained. *** Scarlet to M.F.H. By Cecil Aldin. New York: Charles Scribner¬ís Sons, 1933. 1st American ed? 4to., 151p., red cloth with gilt spine lettering, top edges tinted red, 44 illustrations in color by the author. Foxhounds and fox hunting. The author-artist¬ís second book of hunting advice, for the improver, again with full page plates to support the text. List of hound names. Covers have some wear and rubbing, spine spotted and gilt somewhat rubbed. Mr. Fretwell's bookplate on front fixed endpaper. Interior pages with even, light toning. Very clean. VG+ condition.
