Antique Samson Famille Verte Porcelain Bronze Mounted Jar
This lovely antique porcelain jar with lid in the Chinese Famille Verte style by Samson et Cie, measures 15" tall, 10" wide including the mounts and has a diameter (excluding mounts) of 7". It features bronze mounts at the base, figural swing-up handle mounts on the sides, mounts along the rim of both lid and urn, and mounts around the neck along with a pineapple finial. It's estimated weight is 15 lbs. The underside shows the intertwined Samson mark, plus two blue rings under glaze after the practice of the early period of the Qing dynasty (Kangxi period of 1662-1722) when reign marks were restricted, and which was later employed on works from the very late Qing period from which this jar comes. This jar dates from the 1890s to 1900s. There are no visible cracks or restorations. This item resides with our client on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York and may be seen by appointment.
