Origin: France Date: 1930 Material: Oak Misc: Carved Condition Condition: GOOD In overall good condition. Antique and vintage items by their very nature show normal wear to finish and miscellaneous scratches, nicks, and dings due to age and use. As we define 'good condition' relative to the stated age of the piece, we would expect to see 'character marks' consistent with that age and could include nicks or dings on a piece of furniture, normal separation at joints in wood due to expansion and contraction over time, minor damage to veneer has been stabilized, most locks functioning, most drawers and doors open or slide easily, some original trim may be missing, and there may be one or more splits in the wood due to age and use. If there has been a break in the marble, it has been repaired and the repair may be visible. There may be minor restoration that is visible. Chairs considered 'good condition' may have professional structural repairs but are considered to be structurally sound. These types of repairs may be visible upon close inspection. Upholstered items may show wear consistent with age and use and may need to be reupholstered. EuroLux Antiques makes no representation regarding the comfort of chairs or useability for the customer's particular application. Additional Information Style: Country FRENCH COUNTRY / FRENCH PROVINCIAL Throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, the very best furniture craftsmen in France worked in Paris. Competition for the available positions was fierce. Pieces found today that are marked with signatures from Parisian workshops are recognized as being of very high quality. However, quite a lot of furniture production also occurred outside of Paris in rural villages throughout France. Furniture makers often found apprenticeships with craftsmen far from their homes so they could bring innovative styles and increased knowledge back to their villages. Although loosely based on the styles of Louis XV and Louis XVI, provincial furniture makers developed their own interpretation of these styles, which tended to have more of a rustic charm. They often worked in oak, walnut and cherry. Chairs, especially with a ladder back design, commonly had rush-bottoms rather than upholstery. Additional Information Style: Regency REGENCY STYLE Although the British were able to defeat and exile Napoleon to Elba, the British themselves were conquered by Napoleon's flamboyant Empire style. The term Regency refers to furniture from the early 1800s in England, as George IV acted as Regent for his father, George III, whose sanity was questionable. Ormolu mounts, military and classical motifs mix with Hepplewhite's shield back chairs and square tapered legs to create a British interpretation of the Empire style. Object: LONGCASE CLOCK / TALL CASE CLOCK / GRANDFATHER CLOCK A longcase clock, also known as a tall case clock, grandfather clock or floor clock, is a freestanding, weight-driven, pendulum clock with the pendulum held inside the tower, or waist of the case. Clocks of this style are commonly around 6 - 8 feet tall (the shorter Grandmother clock is usually between 5 - 6 feet tall). Most longcase clocks are striking clocks, which means they sound the time on each hour or fraction of an hour. The advent of the longcase clock was due to the invention of the anchor escapement mechanism around 1670, which allowed a long pendulum that only needed to swing 4 - 6 degrees to operate, and was much more accurate than the older verge escapement. Until the 1800s, clocks were hand-made by individual craftsmen and were very expenisve. The rich ornamentation of clocks of this period indicates their value as status symbols of the wealthy. Pendulum clocks remained the world standard for accurate timekeeping for 270 years until the invention of the quartz clock in 1927. The Fine Print Because EuroLux Antiques maintains its own website and lists on other online sites, while also operating a physical store location in Newberry, South Carolina, we reserve the right to end any listing early if it has not been purchased outright or no bids have been placed upon the item. Aimee & Greg Talbot at EuroLux Antiques. , Please note that EuroLux Antiques goes to great lengths to include information about the functioning of any clock we list under the 'Condition' section of our listings. This information, to the best of our knowledge, is accurate at the time of the listing. For clocks that are listed as being in FULL working order (i.e., clock runs, clock strikes (if applicable), clock chimes (if applicable)), we typically test them again for 24-48 hours prior to shipping to confirm the accuracy of those statements. The customer will be contacted prior to shipping if a clock is found not to be fully functional, if so stated in the listing, as defined above. EuroLux Antiques provides a detailed leaflet about the functioning and care of vintage clocks with each clock that is shipped, whether the clock is fully functional or not. On occasion, stress during shipping and changes in the clock's environment can cause the clock to require a 'break in' period once the clock arrives at its destination.
Doctors Examination Table in Tiger Oak

Year:1905 Price:$2,650.00 Description:Here is the most unusual Doctors Examination table - It is still all there, has its original hardware, works and has a very interesting provenance. This is a mechanical table that adjusts into many positions. There are many more photographs of the different positions that it can be put into - we can only get 4 pix on the webpage, but just ask and you will recieve. Table is all tiger oak, with the exception of the top which is flat-sawn. There are 4 raised panels drawers altogether - although there appear to be 8. These drawers actually push from one side of the cabinet straight thru to the other side, enabling the doctor to reach his supplies without walking around the table. There is a revolving door that contained 3 glass trays - one tray has a chip, but is still quite usable. There is also a small door that has 2 original glass shelves. The nickel plated hardware is all original, quite ornate, and probably as nice as I have seen on any piece of furniture that I have had in the last 39 years. The table top lifts to support the patient in a sitting position. Originally there were leg supports, one of which is included and one is missing which could easily be duplicated. There are 2 foot pedals at the base to raise and tilt the table - these operate smoothly and correctly. This table was owned by Dr. Rielly of Milton,. NJ, he was not a medical doctor and he used this table in his practice on the 34th floor of Rockefeller Center in NYC (where they have the Christmas tree every year). The doctor treated many celebrities including Sonja Hennie, Milton Berle and the list goes on. We were fortunate enough to obtain plenty of information from the former chauffer/bodygaurd of the doctor and we can pass that information along upon request. The doctor had written several books in the 1940's and we have that information as well. Table has been refinished - my assumption is in the 1970's when the table was taken out of a storage warehouse in Manhattan. This is most definitely an amateur refinish - the table had been stripped of what appears to have been one coat of white paint, and then varnished over - I see a few runs in the varnish, which can easily be corrected - but this table is quite showable as it is. There is some minor oxidation and nickel loss to some of the hinges - table rolls on its original wooden wheels - My best guess is that this table was built right around 1900, possible a couple of years later, but not by much. It is very presentable the way it is, everything functions the way it should, and aside from the missing straps and the 1 leg support -is very complete, and certainly one of a very few of a kind. Sales to the lower 48 only - table weighs in at about 200 pound, and will easily fit in any small truck. We welcome pickups or will cooperate with your shipper. We accept personal checks and Paypal and will answer all of your questions promptly and provide you with more pix and additional history. This table would make an excellent presentation piece for the medical collector, chiropracter, tatoo artist, etc. It is completely functional and as rare as can be. Please see our other unique items - all of which are American in origin by clicking on the left side of this page. Thanks for looking.

Year:1930 Price:$ 87.00 Description:Product Details Item #: 12-297-0 Dimensions (inches): 2.50H x 12.25W x 11.75D Comment: This great vintage enamel skillet will look perfect in your retro kitchen! Origin: Belgium Date: 1930 Material: Enamel,Iron ENAMEL Enamelware is the term used for items that have a porcelain enamel finish. Enamel is the result of fusing powdered glass to a substrate by firing. The powder melts and flows and hardens to a smooth, durable vitreous coating on metal, glass or ceramic. It is not known exactly where or when enamel first originated but the process is thousands of years old and was used by the Egyptians. Production of enamelware grew considerably in the 19th century and was commonly used for kitchenware due to its strength, heat conductive abilities, and non-stick surface. In the 1920s and 1930s, enamelware was produced in beautiful shades of blue, green, yellow, and cream as well as bright red and white. Color: Green Condition Condition: GOOD In overall good condition. Antique and vintage items by their very nature show normal wear to finish and miscellaneous scratches, nicks, and dings due to age and use. As we define 'good condition' relative to the stated age of the piece, we would expect to see 'character marks' consistent with that age and could include nicks or dings to a wooden, metal, enamel, or chalkware object, wear to a painted surface, speckling on a mirror, crazing, wear to gilding, or manufacturing glaze skips in ceramic finish, wear to a label, and some original decorative trim may be missing. If ceramic/porcelain restoration has been done, it is of museum-quality so that it is hardly discernible and would be specifically mentioned in the listing. 'Good condition' could include very small fleabite chips or very small hairline cracks in any glass, ceramic, or marble item, but these would be specifically mentioned in the listing. Item Specifics: This item shows normal wear consistent with age and use. Shipping Free Shipping: Free shipping only applies within the Contiguous 48 United States and this item will be shipped via a Ground shipping service (UPS or FedEx), approximate 1-6 business day shipping time. EuroLux may ship some packages via USPS Parcel Post, approximately 2-9 business day delivery time, at its sole discretion. All shipments include insurance. Some of these items include pitchers, coffee pots, tea pots with sugar and creamers, tea cups, plates, bowls, platters, serving pieces, colanders, coffee grinders, tins, pots and pans, cookie and candy molds, spoons, and waffle irons.
