This rare Bible is a teaching aid for home study or classes. It is in the form of double scrolls in a case that opens into a table easel, with corresponding information and maps. There are actual maps that show the different journeys of our Lord Jesus Christ. A key turns the scrolls, and the original key is included
This unique scroll brings the Gospel of John to life on a screen. The life of Christ is documented by turning the key which takes you through a visual presentation of all of John's Gospel. At the same time the upper screen depicts Christ's life as you turn the key, the lower screen depicts the old testament. Below the screen, a book explains each plate (picture) in the German language. It goes through the old testament up to the birth of Christ, then goes through the life of Christ according to the Gospel of John. The end of the book has numerus maps showing the journeys of Christ and maps of Palestine (in the time of Christ). The scrolls include 132 plates (pictures). The entire scroll is encased in a brown fabric board with a metal clasp closure. It measures 16" X16 1/2" X2 1/2" thick. When it opens, it has a unique movement which opens an easel so the entire case is self standing and the visual screens can be viewed in the vertical mode.
All movements of the screens (scroll) work perfectly. The key is in tact. The pages are in excellent shape for a vintage piece. The case has normal use but is not abused at all.
This Bible Scripture Topical Study was made in 1896, written in German, and was produced by Powers, Fowler, & Lewis in Chicago, Ill. The title of the text is "Die Bildfchilderung".
