For sale is a Royal China Moderne assortment. (platter & bread plates). c.1930's-early 40's. These plates feature vivid orange poppies, gold trim and are marked on the back: Royal China Warranted 22-K-Gold Moderne. This is mark #3 in Lehners book of marks, pg. 388. Moderne is the pattern name. The platter is 11.75 wide x 9.25 . The frontside of platter is in good condition, the backside has a couple of rim fleabites, but you don't see these on the front. The small plates are 6.5 x 6.5 inches and 3 of them are in good condition, the other 4 have some aging flaws. One of the four has a backside rim chip, barely visible from the front; two have very tight hairlines; and last one has a small chip on rim which does show. All in all though, these are very pretty despite the little aging flaws. These would look very pretty on that apricot colored tablecloth I have for sale, on your vintage card table! Can't you just picture serving cheese & crackers or scones on these pretty plates to your bridge partners!
