What a sweet, round, early, glass topped, rosewood table. The glass top protects a beautifully embroidered piece of linen using fine silk threads in shades of pale blue and green, soft gold and off whites and a hint of navy blue and wine. The pattern is of vines, leaves and flowers. Gold metal threads were also used t highlight the center of some of the flowers. The needlework was skillfully executed and is in excellent condition. The round picture frame surrounding the glass is designed to lift off for ease in cleaning. The linen has some old staining, which appears to be light water marks around the outside edge of the linen. This is not offensive and only seems to add to its charm and testament to time. The turned and elegantly carved base rests on a triangular shaped platform with round melon ribbed carved feet. The finish is in excellent condition having a warm color and patina. The frame is extremely sturdy, having no breaks or repairs. This is the perfect end or side table next to a chair or sofa.
