For Sale I have a lovely Vase with a Spectacular Glaze made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Pattern is "Carnelian II" although the shape is from the Carnelian I line. The form is a "Pillow Vase" with handles but it reminds me of a Jukebox.
The Vase displays a Fabulous Example of this Particular Glaze. There is a deep Plum Glaze that drips down from the top of the Vase. The purple has a Sea Foam to Moss Green Glaze applied over it and the Green drips over into the inside of the vessel. The bottom or foot of this lovely piece is a Cream background. It is then Marbleized with a lighter hue of Plum, more like Raspberry and also a little caramel speckling. It reminds me of Cotton Candy as the Glaze Looks that Yummy. The are also scroll style handles in which the Glaze was followed through with the dripping effect. The piece has an Arts and Crafts appeal however, the lower portion of the Vase is stepped or ribbed horizontally and also gives it an Art Deco Twist.
The vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The piece is signed on the bottom with the Early "Rv" Ink Stamp "Roseville" mark. The Shape or Catalog number is "65/2/6" and was adapted from the Carnelian I Line. This was not uncommon for Roseville to do this with the Carnelian II in the earlier years of this particular pattern.
This is a great example of this particular glaze and I'm sure the buyer will not be disappointed. The Vase was made circa, 1915-1923.
