This is a beautiful, romantic pattern, based on the drawings of Raymond Peynet. Raymond Peynet was a French artist and illustrator, he produced a range of designs featuring his famous drawings of lovers for the German company Rosenthal in the 1950's and 1960's. This set is from the1950's and bears the green Rosenthal mark is the one that was used in 1957.
This pattern has an angel playing an instrument on the front of the cup and on the back are two lovebirds along with a music score. The saucer has hearts with ribbons on the edge and two lovebirds in the center. This set has variations to the instruments on the cup played by the angels, one has trumpet, one has guitar and two are playing violins.
The cup is the footed style, it is 2 1/4" tall and 2 3/4" across the mouth, the saucer is 5 1/8" across, both pieces are marked with the Rosenthal backstamp from 1957. All eight pieces are in excellent condition, no chips, except for a tiny flat chip on the outside of the cup with angel playing the guitar, not noticeable unless you are looking for it.
