This is a hard to find miniature size solid cast iron advertising anvil, marked "ROSCOE" on one side. Although these were generally made for advertising the casting ability of the company named, this particular one could also be used for small work. I can see no sign of this one ever being used, so it is in very nice condition overall! We are not familiar with this maker's name, so we can only assume it was made during the same period (1900-50) that others had made theirs. Measures 5.25" long and the base is 2.1" x 2.4". A very nicely cast mini anvil!
