ROOKWOOD POTTERY, LENORE ASBURY, DECO FLOWERS, RARE~~~~

For Sale I have a wonderful piece of Painted Art Pottery made by The Rookwood Pottery Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. The Artist that painted this wonderful Vase is "Lenore Asbury" and she is considered to be one of the better Artist to Collect from Rookwood. The Vase Stands 5 9/16" Tall and is 4" in diameter at the shoulder. The Vase displays an array of colorful Art Deco Styled Flowers sitting against a light Turquoise Background that rises up to a deeper Navy Blue at the top rim of the vase. The inside of the vase has a really neat what I would call "Morning Glory" Blue Glaze. The cluster flowers reminds me of Sweet Williams. The Flowers are equally displayed on both sides of the vase. The Shape of this Vessel displays a strong Greek Influence and the Painting flows from the throat down to the shoulder. You can see very pleasing Pastel Salmon, Peach, Violet, and Deep Blue Flowers. These are set among wonderfully detailed Sage Green/Gray Leaves. All of these are outlined and show some veining. The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition. There is absolutely not an Issue with it. The Piece is signed on the bottom with Rookwood's Reverse "RP" and Sunburst Logo as well as the Roman Numerals XXX for the year it was made, 1930 and mold number 6148. There is also the letter V incised for the Glaze "Vellum" and the Artist Cipher "L.A." underlined for "Lenore Asbury" What makes this exciting is the 50th anniversary mark between the letter V and Artist Cipher L.A. My research showed me that there were not many of these made. In fact they had only seen a dozen or so when that one was sold. This is a quality piece of Art Pottery made by a very gifted Artist.
