For Sale I have a wonderful Arts and Crafts Design Vase made by The Rookwood Pottery Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. The Vase is considered a Tapered Shoulder Vase and it is done in the not so commonly found Matte Yellow Glaze.
The Vase displays a wonder Arts and Crafts Design of Vertically Carved Broad or Wide Leaves with much Narrower ones separating the Larger ones. There is an Indian Design or Motif of Four Diamonds Stacked inside of a Triangular Window at the Shoulder of the Vessel. The Matt Yellow Glaze is a very Pleasing one and not so commonly found. You can see some type of Mottling in the Yellow Glaze when looking closely at it.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks chips or dings. There are no excuses to be made for this vase. Rookwood had great quality control and if it was considered a second the piece would be marked on the bottom with an x. This piece WAS NOT considered a second as there is no x mark. The piece is signed with Rookwood's Reverse RP Impressed Sunburst Logo Mark along with the Roman Numerals XXI for the year of manufacture, 1921. There is also the impressed mold or shape number 2412 just under the Roman Numerals.
Those of you who collect Arts and Crafts Design or Indian Influence Design Rookwood Vases will surely welcome this into your collection. This will look wonderful on the Stickley Bookcase and will work great in any Arts and Crafts, Mission or Southwestern Style Decor. This is an excellent example of this not so Commonly Found Matte Yellow Glaze and the Pattern is Crisp and well defined. I'm sure the buyer will be extremely pleased with their purchase.
