Often mistaken for Staffordshire, this is a very heavy glazed American pottery King Charles Spaniel by Rockingham Pottery, c. 1840. It measures 10 1/4" h., with the base 8" x 6 1/2". Very nice striking presence. Quite substantial in weight, this spaniel has a folk art appeal. He is not in perfect condition. Appearance is very good but upon looking very closely, on the back of the base there are some age fractures. They are stable without any movement of areas impacted.
