Running for president in 1968, Senator Robert F. Kennedy considered California to be a crucial state to win. This newspaper encouraged voters to consider his candidacy, particularly the younger voters. He spent considerable time in California advertising an appearance at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena on May 24 highlighted by this campaign newspaper. Kennedy would win the primary on June 5, 1968 and after addressing his supporters, he took a shortcut through the kitchen of the Ambassador Hotel where he was critically injured by a lone assassin and died early the next day.
