Kimura came to New York in 1964 and established himself immediately as an abstract painter and printmaker working out of his studio in Westbeth in the West Village. He was captivated by the energy and juxtaposition of architectural shapes in large cities and produced many serigraph editions on this theme which illustrate his intuitive knowledge of color and balance. His works are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, NY, The Brooklyn Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Modern Art, Minnesota Museum of Art, The Cincinnati Art Museum, The National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, and The National Museum of Taiwan.
