This is a cute nursery rhyme sugar and creamer set by Dept. 56 in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. It's Jack Sprat and his wife! There is light crazing all over as to be expected from age and use and a couple of rough spots as if the glaze was missed or worn but this does not detract as it cannot be seen, just felt since the glaze and porcelain are both white. Both pieces are incised in the bottom "Ala Carte Dept 56 along with paper labels that say "Made in Japan for Dept 56" and the creamer has a paper label on the side that say's "Hand Painted Dept 56" This adorable vintage set is discontinued and hard to find! i am unsure of what year these were made, but they are older pieces, at least pre 1982 since they have the Japan labels on them, but the exact year is unknown. When I do find this information, I will update. The creamer measures a little over 4.5" tall and 5.25" wide from handle to spout. The covered Sugar bowl measures 4.5" tall and 4.25" wide across the bottom. A perfect addition to any Department 56 or Nursery Rhyme collection!
