This large 9 x 12 hand formed tile has an interesting design. Appearing to be Northwest coast tribal with the wide face near the bottom and the carved animals at the top, the motif is hand carved with the recesses covered in a sooty dark glaze. It is an inch thick and made from a redware clay. Reminds me of tiles made by Waco or Handcraft. This came from the estate of an anthropologist living in Florida. The back of the tile is unmarked with carved ribs. One of these ribs has a chip.
