Tall American pine and poplar cabinet was likely a built in wardrobe and is likely Shaker in origin. New England red paint is very old, probably mid 19th century or earlier. Paneled door is champhered as are backboards. Solid one-board sides dovetailed at top and bottom. Shaker style coat pegs appear to be original. Feet and doorknob are new but stylistically Shaker and can be easily removed. Wood strips on inside would allow for three shelves. Good, near original condition. Ca.:1840 perhaps earlier.
