Date: 1940s Size: 21 x 31 Notes: Poster Artist: Anonymous About The Poster: This is an exceptional, and exceptionally rare poster. The heading reads "Following the great defeat which has hit France, the General de Gaulle calls upon all Free French Forces"... it continues (in language which could be considered inflammatory), "To all those French who have come, in great numbers, to join their compatriots, and who, regardless of the dangers, have left the occupied zones to join our ranks..." Essentially calling on all able-bodied men to join the Free French forces, De Gaulle's - undated - proclamation is a forceful plea to regain the country and its pride. Another copy of this poster was recently auctioned in Paris for close to $5000. In excellent condition, never framed, never folded, the poster measures 21 x 31 inches. This poster was part of a private collection.
