RARE! Patented 1924 Auto Golf Club & Bag Carrier - Brass & Bronze

I'm pleased to offer this rare Golf Collectible. Fully refurbished & functional. Will hold 4 1920s stand-up golf bags with ease. The original metal manufacturer's label is still attached to the upper Brass guard. See close-up. It reads as follows: "DUO-AUTO GOLF CLUB AND LUGGAGE CARRIER, DETROIT MICH., PAT'D SEPT. 8 1924 USA" Made of Bronze, Brass and what appears to be cast aluminum I believe it was meant to be attached on either side running board of a convertible since the large brass clamps are interchangeable or reversible. One would be needed to clamp the carrier to the board, the other to a part of the car, if that makes sense. The 2 brass guards have 4 holes on each side to adjust them as needed. One of them has been newly custom made because the original one was missing. It works perfectly. The whole unit was of a gun metal colour due to 85 years of tarnish. My silversmith did a great job bringing it back to its former glory without overdoing it. The vertical rods pull out as mentioned above. I don't know how far since I lack the strength to try and find out, but I have seen my silversmith do so. My husband will give me a hand should an interested buyer want to know. The cast golfer shown on the cast metal base wears Plus fours and is in full swing. This stand would also lend itself to the displaying of clubs from that era by placing the butt of the grips into the holes in the base.
