VINDEX - JOHN DEERE D TOY TRACTOR!!! NO RESERVE!!! When you hear the VINDEX name mentioned in cast iron toy circles, you know you're talking about a RARE TOY!! Vindex Toys was a division of the National Sewing Machine Co. of Belvedere, Illinois from 1928-1932. The toys were high quality and popular, but during those tough years of the Depression, most folks couldn't afford to purchase them! Vindex Toys were often offered as premiums - it was a way for the toys to be distributed, and kids worked hard to earn their prizes!! The toys were often played with by several generations of children, and few have survived....... Now that we've given you a little background information - let's tell you about this neat old tractor!!....... This VINDEX JOHN DEERE D TRACTOR is less than perfect - and priced accordingly!! If you don't want to spend a couple thousand dollars for a prime example - take some time to consider this one!! It still has traces of it's original JD GREEN & YELLOW paint - but it doesn't look show room new anymore - rather it has the nice warm patina that comes from years of loving play!! In the second photo, you can see glimpses (through the wheel spokes) of the "VINDEX - BELVEDERE, ILL" identification stamped inside the fender - part of the "ILL" shows in the photo, as well as a bit more.) All the NICKLE-PLATED PARTS shown are the ORIGINALS that have been with the tractor since it was made - sorry, no driver. It does have a repaired right rear fender - it was professionally done, and really doesn't detract from its charm. The front wheels may have been replaced at some point in time - they don't show the exact same wear as the rear wheels, but they do look good on the tractor (and they are cast iron wheels - maybe they came off some other Vindex toy?) It also has a new rivet holding the body together - I suppose the tractor was split when the fender repair was done. We've included LOTS of photos for you - please look them over and email us if you have any questions. This tractor was taken from our personal collection. We've had fun owning it and showing it off - now it's time for someone else to enjoy it for awhile! However, if it doesn't sell - we don't mind keeping it around awhile longer! It's a nice-looking piece in any toy display!)
