Extremely rare and highly desirable, formal period Chippendale mahogany cased dwarf tallcase clock (salesman's sampler or clockmaker's sampler), late eighteenth century to early nineteenth century, signed William Panton, Alyth. Clockmaker recorded in Scottish Clockmakers Directory. Wonderful period mahogany case, well proportioned and formal in its construction (see photographs) in its completely original finish, swan's neck pediment, wonderful waist door, original feet. Labeled reverso (see photograph) of famous early twentieth century dealer in fine eighteenth century English furniture. Dial engraved with makers name and location, great original hands.Glass in bonnet original. In fine working order. Mechanics recently cleaned and re-cabled.

Circa: 1790-1815
Wonderful condition, original patina (surface) to case, piece of block missing to rear right rear foot that can only be seen from the back of the clock. The feet are totally original. Clock in fine running order keeping great time.
