What a wonderful piece of history and memorabilia from a gentleman who really made his mark in the music and theatre world. In 1938, Billy Roses Diamond Horseshoe, a nightclub in New York City's Times Square opened in the basement of the Paramount Hotel. It initially opened with a version of his Fort Worth show w he constructed the huge elaborate dinner theatre Casa Mañana which featured stripper Sally Rand and the world's largest revolving stage. From 1949 until 1955, Rose was the owner/operator of the Ziegfeld Theatre. He is best known as the credited writer or co-writer of the lyrics to "Me and My Shadow" This Menu is absolutely DELIGHTFUL with twists of comical drawings as well as the way the menu is written. This seems to be one of the first Green clubs with a farm bought specifically for the purpose of brining fresh food to its establishment. This was done in anticipation of the governments Food Conservation Program. This large menu has a beautiful red head on the cover who looks like she was painted in the impressionist style of Monet. Inside the t is one page dedicated to drinks with prices as low as 80 cents and live main lobster dinners for $4.95. This measures 17 ½ x 11 when closed. Made of a sturdy paper it is quite beautiful piece of history~!.Gentle wear. Will be shipped in a hard cardboard casing for protection.
