RARE Antique Georgian Shell Vinaigrette perfume
This RARE old circa 1830 hanging vinaigrette ( or perfume)is most likely to be english in origin. These were filled with cotton or cloth , then a scent or perfume was dropped inside and worn by the waist. These also held smelling salts and were believed to keep sickness and ill smells away . There is a hole on one side of this vinaigrette for letting the scent out . The Mother of Pearl shell is beautiful and lustrous and one side has a little wear on it. The handle is ornate with repousse work as well as the footed bottom. This measures 3" tall and is not a mass manufactured item so it is quite a collectible piece! Vintage and antique items are not mint nor are they perfect. Sold as is and as found (used and vintage) Since this is Irreplaceable there can be no returns on this sale..
