Here we have an extra rare, extra nice piece of Anheuser-Busch advertising for Budweiser King of Beers. This sign acted as a push bar for a tavern door and was made in the 1950’s. It has the “A” logo with the American eagle standing on 3 arrows on top of a shield at the top then reads “Budweiser King of Beers Those Who Know Buy Bud”. The registration mark along with Item No 284 and Anheuser-Busch, Inc St. Louis, MO are also printed in red on the front of this sign in smaller letters. This piece is in excellent condition with no rust on the sign. The chrome “U” bar that goes through the sign is rusted in spots and the chrome is worn in areas. The sign does have some scuffs and scrapes but for its age I would call it excellent condition. There is one small area right of the “s” in Beers that looks like white paint transferred to the sign. There is a dot of green paint on the back of the sign about the size of a silver dollar. Be sure to see the photos below. This is not a new item it is antique it will not be perfect. It is a sign that was used on the door of a tavern or pub and the wear and tear of years of use shows a little. It appears to be in all original condition, never refurbished or refinished. I do not know the exact date it was made or who made it for Anheuser-Busch to distribute. The sign measures 5 ½ inches tall and 2 inches thick front to back. The bar is 30 inches long. The piece weighs 6 pounds total.
