This is an extremely rare “Schiavona” silver hilted steel dagger dated 1176 A.H. (Islamic calendar) and signed by the maker “ The work of Ayub”. The tapering triangular steel blade irregularly pierced. The forte with silver inlaid including a signature and date. A mesh grip hilt and curved quillons. The dagger is 23 ¼ inches long. In 18th Century Venice was an Empire with colonies all over the Mediterranean Sea. Many Islamic Artists were appointed in that period of time in Venice to work for the Doges of Venice. They have made a unique style, mix of European and Islamic elements, called Veneto-Saracen. All our artefacts are accompanied by a Certificate Of Authenticity.
