Professor Rugeer Famu Lapita Statue

Professor Rugeer Famu Lapita statue, This is one of the crushed marble hand carved statues that you see on the roadshow. An extensive process to make & has the look & feel of solid marble, but not the expense. This one shows a young woman holding a mare & her colt with flowers at their feet. I don't know the age of this, but would guess the 1960 era. Very well made & a great design. Aprox 9 x 9 1/2", bottom edge is rough, but I believe they are all this way due to to process. No chips et that I could find, I question whether the tail is a little shorter than it should be, but it doesn't appear to be chipped et. There is one thing that I don't like about it, one of the nostrils on the girls nose was carved a little deep & it looks like she has a flat nose, If this were mine, I would take a piece of sand paper to it & give it a little less depth. It is a great statue & definitely a work of art.
