Beautifully engraved certificate from the Prince's Racquet & Tennis Club Company issued in 1871. This historic document was printed by Letts, Son & Company Royal Exchange E.C. and has a vignette of the company initials. This item is hand signed by the Company's Directors ( Andrew Robertson and ??? Clarke ) and Secretary ( George Prince? ) and is over 132 years old. The certificate was issued to Lt. Col. Henry Holford Stevenson for 100 shares. This is the first time we have seen this certifcate and it is the earliest Tennis related certificate we have seen. It has been folded had has toning.
Certificate Vignette in 1853 Prince's Club opened its historic doors with seven covered rackets courts.
