Pre WWII Japanese Lustreware Wall Pocket With Moriage Bird

Unavailable
Pre-World War Two Japanese blue and tan lustreware wall pocket, with moriage bird in gold with green, orange, blue, and white slip decoration. The regal bird, with wings raised and tail feathers spread, is perched upon a black branch adorned with apple blossoms. On the back is a red backstamp that has HAND PAINTED JAPAN printed around a blossom with an H in the center. There are also some faded black markings which appear to be a signature or symbol. This handsome wall pocket measures about 7 inches high, 4.25 inches wide, and 3 inches deep. It is in good to very good condition, with no chips or cracks, and light surface wear. The moriage beading and trim appear to be intact, with the exception of some areas of loss in the thin black outlining. There are a handful of production imperfections, including a very small hole in the top rim which can be seen in the photographs. There are also some lime deposits on the white glazed interior. Please refer to the 4 photographs for appearance and condition. Shipping / packaging will be $12.00.
