Portrait of President Harry S Truman
Unavailable
Upon the death of President Franklin D. Roosevelt in April, 1945, Vice President Harry S Truman was sworn in as the 33rd president of the United States. This sepia-toned photograph was taken just after he was sworn into office and issued in a creme-colored portrait folder by Hessler Studios, not the White House, possibly as a promotional piece. The photograph is actually signed by Hessler in the bottom right hand of the photograph.
