1485 British Pounds. Portrait of Mrs Scott, wife of Captain Scott,c.1780; Circle of John Russell R.A. (1745-1806), born Guildford, son of the Mayor; studied crayon drawing with Francis Cotes up to 1767. Elected ARA 1772, RA 1788. Based in London, but toured the provinces producing attractive crayon portaits. Appointed Crayon Painter to the King and Prince of Wales. After 1790 worked mainly in Yorkshire; died of typhoid in Hull 1806, buried Holy Trinity Church.Inscription verso; 'Mrs. Scott, nee Penelope Henchman. Romney fecit'PROVENANCE: by family descent.
