This lovely Victorian porcelain or china mantle clock was made by the Gilbert Clock Co., Winstead, Conn. The dial has a highly ornate brass bezel and brass and paper face. The clock retains all its original parts and mechanism which are in excellent working condition. The clock strikes every hour and half hour. The china case is beautifully hand painted and detailed. Notice the outlining of the roaring lion faces on either side of the case. The outlining is a rich burgundy color. Below are hand painted iris in shades of yellow and purple. Look closely and you can see a cottage scene among the flowers. The case is free of chips and cracks. The case has some areas of crazing on the finish which is common among porcelain clocks. It does not detract from its aesthetics. What a beautiful piece to grace your home or mantle!
