Polychrome Glazed Faience Fruit Basket

This beautiful majolica wickerwork basket dates from the 19th century and features polychrome glazed decoration, bracket handles and grapevine reliefs. Measures 18" wide and 8" deep and weighs an estimated 3-5 lbs. Excellent condition, with no known cracks, chips or restorations.

This item comes from the collection of Roni Steinberg Sokoloff and resided in her former 63-acre estate in Bedford New York known as Cantitoe Farms. (Formerly known as Sycamore Farms, the estate is down the road from Martha Stewart's estate.) The basket was purchased by Ms. Sokoloff in the 1980s and was appraised in 1988 by Sotheby's at $2,500. We will be happy to include a copy of the appraisal at time of purchase.
