This rare chair in the shape of a curled acanthus leaf was made by Gufram of Italy, circa 1968-1970, and has been attributed to Piero Gilardi (Italian, 1942- ), the influential designer and participant in the Arte Povera movement. Condition is exceptional. There are no tears and minimal wear and no dark stains. Gilardi is most famous for his organic designs and use of exotic new materials. Most would consider his most famous design to be I Sassi (The Rocks), which is in the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Additional images forwarded upon request. ( za-, italian, pop movement, italy )
