Interesting 8 3/4 x 11 1/4 inch gelatin silver print, vintage 1950's, by Ed Feingersh for PIX.
Feingersh was an interesting photojournalist who was influential on many of his friends in the art and photography world. He is most known for his intimate portraits of Marilyn Monroe for REDBOOK in 1954. He died soon after, still in his 30's.
I took this to be a nurse in her white uniform looking closely at a patient. I've been told he did a project dealing with a doctor, so this may be that woman doctor. To me this seems to be an expression of 1950's dark anxiety, not only because of her expression, but also the composition and lighting have a 'noir' feeling.
Feingersh's stamp, his "PIX" stamp, and "Assignment McCall" on the verso.
This is a rich print on heavy paper, with some minor signs of handling from the stamps and marks on the verso.
