Peter Klasen Yellow & Red Electrical Plug Sculpture from 1971

Unavailable
This is an original sculpture of an electrical plug, known as EH- 58, made circa 1971 by Peter Klasen (German, 1935- ). It has its original black marble pedestal and hardware, and is in excellent condition. There are no visible signs of restoration. There are some small chip losses at the bottom edge of the stone pedestal, and a few small areas of paint loss. This iconic work of Pop art was widely acclaimed and has been seen in numerous reference books documenting the movement. It is interesting however to note that Klasen is also widely known for his figurative art, as a founding father of the La Nouvelle Figuration movement of the early-mid 1960s. His works are held in the permanent collections of many important institutions around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MOMA), Musee National d' Art Modern (Centre Pompidou) in Paris, Kunsthalle in Dusseldorf, Musee des Beaux-Art de Montreal, among many others.
