THIS PERSIAN SILVER TEA SET DATES BACK TO

APPROXIMATELY 1840'S.   IT WAS IN KING FAROUK'S

PALACE TREASURES COLLECTION SOLD BY SOUTHEBY'S

IN 1952\ FOR THE EGYPTIAN GOVERNMENT COUP WHICH

HAD DETHRONED FAROUK AND HAD TAKEN POWER

OVER EGYPT..  (Heirs have consigned this for sale.  They

have another set which was brought to USA by their

ancestors in 1887, which we will be listing later.   There

had been confusion over which set is from King Farouk's

collection,  and which set was brought from Europe in 1887.

AS OF NOW,  it seems THIS set is the Farouk owned set.

THE TEA POT AND CREAMER have ANTELOPE &

PEACOCK AND OTHER ANIMAL FIGURES ENGRAVED

ALL OVER .   The handles are overlaid with ivory, bone, or olive

wood (to insulate from heat).  The MOUTH OF THE SPOUTS

IS IN THE FORM OF A DRAGON'S MOUTH.

The tray is engraved with hundreds of intricate flora

designs.  The tray edge is nicely rolled and raised about

polished.  The PERSIAN SILVER WORKERS USE A METAL

QUITE THE SAME AS WHAT WE IN THE WEST CALL STERLING.
