This handsome, solid cherry, Pennsylvania Federal period corner cupboard has wonderful detailing and unique features. The top has a bold, stepped out cornice with delicate matchstick moulding below. Notice the reeded moulding surrounding the top and bottom blind doors. The top doors have 2 recessed square panels above 2 long recessed panels. The bottom doors have 2 long recessed panels. Each door has a delicately carved bead framing their openings. The doors have unusual cast brass latches, which require you to push the button on the knob to open. The doors retain their original working locks. There are 3 shelves inside the top doors and a single shelf inside the bottom doors. All the top shelves have double plate grooves for displaying dishes. Amazingly, the interior retains its original red stained surface. There is some slight older damage or wood loss near the lock on the top doors. It appears someone may have pried at the doors to open them because they were locked. This only adds to its charm and history. This cabinet will require 32" or more of wall space on each side of the corner. The cabinet rests on bracket feet with a lovely cut out design along the base. The finish is in excellent condition having a deep, rich color and patina. Here is a simple, yet elegant corner cupboard that would compliment both a formal or casual looking room.
