Offering this nice, clean, hard to find 13.5" long x 1-3/4" wide cutting edge, socket firmer chisel, marked "NO. 1 EXTRA" on the steel, and most of the "P.S. & W." mark is there too. The "N0. 1 EXTRA" mark simply means that the quality of the steel that was used was the best engineered steel that this company (PECK, STOW, & WILCOX) offered for wood chisels. This company is well known for quality made edge tools in the early 1900's era, and other woodworking tools too! This chisel is straight, and clean, with plenty of stock left (8.7" steel length) for future sharpening. The socket handle is very nice with a very good leather wrapped end, a few scratches, no cracks, solid. The cutting edge is very sharp, straight and ready to use. We note some edge dings on the sides of the chisel starting about 2" back from the cutting edge, not bad but noted. A top quality chisel by a well know manufacturer!
