Beautifully engraved Certificate from the Patent Box Opener Company issued in 1864. This historic document was printed by Baker and Godwin and has an ornate border around it with aa Internal Revenue Tax Stamp affixed to it. This item is hand signed by the company's president (Ezra Baldwin) and is over 137 years old. The company made a tool for opening boxes quicker, undoubtedly for the Civil War efforts. Patent number 41925 was issued on March 15, 1864 for this unique invention.
