Pair Paris French Charles X Gilt Biscuit Porcelain Figural Baskets Tazzas

Unavailable

This beautiful pair of Charles X parcel gilt biscuit porcelain cupid figures with reticulated baskets measure 16 in (41 cm) and date from circa 1830.  Both have chip losses to the top of the figures' headdress where it meets the basket.  Restorations and regilding of the headdress extend from the top to the lower leaf area with very minor chips to the edges of the lower leaves.  Both have minor wear to the gilding of the cloak and the cushion.  There is some overspray to the green enamel on the bases which obscures the exact cause of the damage.  One stick in one of the figure's left hands has been repaired.  One basket has been entirely restored and regilt which may cover chips or breaks.  Some of these losses are recent and we have approximately 12 chips set aside which may be used in restoration. Provenance: Sotheby's.
