Incredible pair of finely potted Imperial rice bowls. Marked on the base and of the period these are a highlight for any collection. Nice mellow yellow color indicaive of the era. Sand rim really tells the story of the age of the bowls. Ex-Nelson Atkins museum of Art which houses one of the best collections of chinese ceramics in the country. Purchased from the curators estate and de-acquisitioned due to damage to the one.

Circa 1700 and from the late Kang Hsi reign. Early in his reign he did not allow items to be marked with his seal so this would place these bowl near the end of his reign. Minor fritts in the base of one bowl the other with a rim repair. Great Imperial pair (yellow is the color reserved for the Emperor). 5" diameter.
